Movement Meditation

Wednesday 11:45am-1:15pm

Gentle bodily exploration for the collective. Blending aspects of Pranayama (breath-work,) Yoga, and interpretative somatic movement, this shared, playful practice aims at cultivating a greater awareness of the mind-body connection, and how it may be utilized as a holistic tool for our artistic pursuits and daily lives.

Emily Neale (she/her) is a Movement Artist who relocated to Chicago in 2020. Born in New York, NY as a first-generation multiracial American, Emily resonated with dancing as her passion of choice growing up. She is a former Soloist with Ballet West, with a background of classical ballet training from Gelsey Kirkland Academy, and Ellison Ballet Professional Training Program in New York City, where she graduated in 2015. While experiencing a fast-rising career at Ballet West, performing many coveted roles under the direction of Adam Sklute, she was Pointe Magazine's Cover Star in the Summer of 2019, as well as a Princess Grace Award nominee. Since transitioning her career towards a direction of contemporary movement in 2020, Emily has since attended Alonzo King's LINES online training program, has received a 200-hr Yoga Teacher Certification with Chi-Town Shakti, is a young children's ballet teacher at Tutu School Chicago, and has created Movement Meditation. Emily hopes to incorporate breath-work and conscious movement practices into the Chicago dance community and beyond, to help further evolve the movement arts at large.
